Experience the world premiere of the orchestral score to The Undertaker, a new ballet by Illarion Gershkovich inspired by Alexander Pushkin’s ‘Coffin-Maker’ from The Tales of Belkin.
Follow Adrian Prokhorov’s descent into a night filled with merriment, misunderstandings, and the macabre. In true Pushkin fashion, a small act of social pride quickly unfurls into a wry misadventure, where the boundary between the living and the dead grows perilously thin – a reminder to be careful what you wish for.
This one-off performance offers a rare glimpse into a ballet score before it becomes a fully staged production. Audiences are invited to engage with The Undertaker in its purest form, guided only by the orchestra, the work’s imagined mise-en-scène, and a sequence of original paintings created for the production by Alexander Escalante.
