EU students

Hands playing the piano
The Royal College of Music has a long tradition of welcoming students from around the world, in particular from our European neighbours. Talented students from all over the European Union choose to come and study at the Royal College of Music and play an essential role in College life.

The Royal College of Music’s international community of staff and students makes it an exciting and diverse hub of musical activity. More than 20% of RCM students come from EU countries, studying at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. RCM professors come from across the globe, including more than 60 from Europe, bringing with them a wealth of experience and expertise.

Students from all over the world bring exceptional talent, creativity and inspiration to the RCM and contribute significantly to our reputation as a world-class conservatoire. We have been ranked the top institution for performing arts in the UK for six consecutive years and top in Europe in 2020 and 2021 (QS World University Rankings 2016–2021).

We like to ensure all our students feel at home when they arrive. There are plenty of opportunities to get to know your fellow musicians and the RCM Students’ Union runs a diverse programme of social events. Our friendly staff in Registry and Student Services are experienced in helping EU students and are available to offer assistance and advice.
