Vera Fonte

Vera Fonte is Doctoral Candidate at the RCM supported by a research grant from the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT). In previous years she was an RCM Scholar supported by a Barry Shaw Award and a McFadzean Whyte Award. Her research examines music memorisation, predominantly in the contemporary piano repertoire. Vera holds a Bachelor in piano performance and a Master in Music Teaching from the University of Minho (Portugal). Her Master's thesis focused on the development of pedagogical strategies for the memorisation of J.S. Bach's Fugues. A performer of solo and chamber repertoire, she has regularly performed solo and ensemble contemporary pieces and has premiered contemporary works by such composers as Wynton Guess, Vitorino d'Almeida, Paulo Bastos and Luís Pipa. Vera is currently working as Guest Lecturer on the Bachelor in Performance and Masters in Music Teaching at Universidade do Minho (Portugal).
