Georgia Dawson

Georgia Dawson (she/her) is a Centre for Performance Science PhD student, supported by a London Arts and Humanities Partnership studentship and supervised by Professor Rosie Perkins, Dr. Anna Detari and Dr. Tania Lisboa.

Georgia’s research aims to shed light on the wellbeing of autistic students within UK music conservatoires, investigating potential barriers to inclusion and analysing the environment as an effector of the autistic student experience.

Alongside her PhD studies, Georgia has worked alongside Dr Anna Detari on "The Neurodivergent Musician: A Participatory Action Research Study”, of which the initial methodology report is published by SAGE in Neurodiversity. Presentations of her work include the International Symposium of Performance Science, the Performing Arts Medicine Association international symposium, The Neurodivergent Music Studies Conference, the British Horn Festival and guest lectures for Cambridge University.

Georgia’s prior education includes a masters from King’s College London and an undergraduate in French horn performance from the RCM. In addition to her research she enjoys a diverse performance schedule with highlights include touring with Symphonica Orchestra, performing for the Thursford Christmas Spectacular and playing for Chaka Khan at the Royal Festival Hall. Georgia also holds roles as a peripatetic brass teacher and specialist early years workshop leader in East London.
