What does a sketch of Vaughan Williams from 1915 tell us about the composer and his time as a student at the Royal College of Music?

To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ralph Vaughan Williams, Upbeat will be exploring items linked to the celebrated British composer in the Royal College of Music's collection.

In the first instalment of the series, Richard Martin, Digital & Documentation Officer for the Royal College of Music Museum, reveals the story behind an unassuming sketch by Claire Mackail of Vaughan Williams and his teacher at the RCM, Hubert Parry.
