In this lunchtime programme, folk melodies intertwine with the classical with Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango, a work steeped in Argentinian folk dance along with jazz flair, and Lili Boulanger's Three pieces for cello and piano with its song-like melody lines.
Completing the programme are Bruch’s rarely heard lyrical String Octet – a late Romantic masterpiece – and Debussy’s impressionistic trio Sonata, an evocative work of shimmering texture.
