Journey through time and place with the RCM Wind Ensemble, in a riveting programme of octets including those of American composer Earle Brown, a close colleague of John Cage.
Framing the evening are two contrasting works written over 100 years apart: Beethoven’s cheerful entertainment piece written in the composer’s early years, and Stravinsky’s mystical work for the unusual instrumentation of four woodwind and four brass instruments, said to be inspired by a dream.
