Auditions for RCMJD will be a one or two-stage stage process, depending on first study. Full information about this will be available once 2023 applications open in January.
Should there be any additional requirements to those listed below we will advise you of these when informing you of your audition date.
Auditions for RCMJD will be a one or two-stage process. For our most popular instruments (violin and piano), candidates will need to submit video recordings of their performances for the initial round. Single round auditions (and final round auditions for violin/piano) will be held in person. We aim to let you know the date of your audition approximately a week after the closing date for applications.
Please ensure that you have read the special audition requirements document below.
After your Junior Department audition
Results will be sent directly to parents/guardians by email as soon as possible after the audition period – further details of our audition process timeline will be available once applications open in January.
If you are offered a place you will have a little time to decide whether you wish to accept it. The date by which you will be expected to sign your agreement to our Regulations and Policies will be stated on your offer letter.
If you decide to accept you will also need to decide (within the acceptance deadline) which instruments you wish to have individual tuition on, and whether you require standard length or extended lessons (for which there is an extra cost). You must also familiarise yourself with what the RCMJD offers and what is expected of students and parents before accepting your place, and will be asked to sign your agreement to our Regulations and Code of Conduct.
