Dr Christoph Knopfel

Dr Christoph Knopfel trained as a pianist at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, read music history and musicology at City University and studied composition at Goldsmiths College, the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt and the Conservatoire de Strasbourg before completing a PhD in the philosophy of music at King’s College, London. He has worked as a performer, accompanist, improviser and session musician and is active as a composer and writer on music. 

 He has more than 15 years of experience as teacher, tutor and lecturer and has held positions at institutions of Secondary, Further and Higher Education. He currently lectures on the undergraduate programme at the Foundation for International Education in London and teaches theory, composition and aural skills at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music.
