Percussion teacher

Cameron Sinclair is a percussionist and composer. He is section principal for the Glyndebourne Sinfonia and has worked extensively with many orchestras and ensembles including the Philharmonia, English Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

Major commissions include orchestral works for the Venice Biennale, Turin Festival and the Creating Sparks Festival. He recently directed his choral and orchestral work Constellations which featured over a thousand performers at the Royal Albert Hall.
As Associate Composer for the professional choral group Singscape, he composed numerous works including The Secret of the Universe which won a British Composer’s Award. He was subsequently commissioned to write a large-scale choral and orchestral work which was given its premiere by the Britten Sinfonia. Other compositions have been performed by the Philharmonia, New Noise Ensemble, Ensemble Bash, Malaysian Philharmonic and Joanna MacGregor. He also collaborated with Joanna on her critically acclaimed album Neural Circuits and conducted her at the BBC Proms.

He is an Associate Artist with Aproxima, an art collective based in Scotland. He most recently served as Music Director for Glasgow Requiem: The Well Within, a semi-staged performance in Glasgow Cathedral for the city’s 850th charter celebrations. He also collaborated on their site-specific show Over Lunan which won an award for Outstanding Cultural Event. His work with Angus Farquhar (Test Department) fusing energetic marimba playing and electronic music was critically acclaimed after their performances for the National Theatre, Scotland and in the Brunel Museum, London.

He has also directed collaborations with the Royal National Theatre and Tate Gallery and was awarded an International Fellowship of the Arts Council to support his residency at Cittadellarte where he produced works in association with visual artists that have been exhibited throughout Europe. He has also produced several installations with long-standing collaborator Alexandra Julyan for the ISCM World Music Days, Wapping Power Station and Helix Arts.
