Emily is a distinguished violist and is a highly sought-after pedagogue for viola. Her performing
passion lies in chamber music; she is an esteemed member of the Fitzroy Quartet. As winners of the
Beethoven Prize at the Beethoven International Chamber Music Competition, and the Royal Overseas
League Chamber Music Competition they maintain a busy international performing career,
performing in South Africa, France, Germany, Moldova and Poland. They are currently selected
artists on Le Dimore del Quartetto, Italy. They were also selected artists for The Tunnel Trust and the
Belcea Quartet Charitable Trust. Emily is also a very proud member of flexi-ensembles; Ensemble
Mirage and the Meliora Collective, both championing lesser known works and composers.
Orchestrally, Emily regularly appears with the Manchester Camerata, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic,
BBC Philharmonic Orchestras, and the Northern Chamber Orchestra. As a student she was also
members of the National Youth and European Union Youth Orchestra.
She maintains a large private teaching studio and holds teaching positions at Wycombe Abbey
School, North London Collegiate School, and Channing School. She is also a professor of Viola and
Chamber Music at the Royal College of Music Junior Department. Emily is extremely proud of her
students, many of whom have obtained places in the National Youth and National Children’s
Orchestra of Great Britain.
Emily graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a Dip RAM and an MA with Distinction.
Prior to this, she achieved a First Class BMus (Hons) Degree at the Royal Northern College of Music
(RNCM). Emily won the RNCM Viola Competition and the Edinburgh Quartet Apprentice
Competition. She participated in masterclasses with renowned violists such as Lawrence Power,
Garth Knox, Thomas Riebl, and Nobuko Imai.
Aside from her teaching and performing, Emily loves baking and spending quality time with her
husband and 2 children.
