Studying at the RCM and living in a city as culturally rich as London offers an incredible opportunity for any aspiring musician. The RCM Students’ Union is here to help you make the most of it.
The Students’ Union (SU) is a lively body that represents every student enrolled at the Royal College of Music. The SU Executive Committee is elected by students and comprises the President and a team of five officers. For the 2025/26 academic year these are:

We represent the student voice at all levels within the College, from day-to-day matters to the decisions made by the RCM Council. We also organise student socials, promote health and wellbeing and work closely with Student Services on pastoral care.
Societies
RCM students have access to a wide range of clubs and societies. We run multiple clubs and societies exclusively for RCM students. Students also have access to a wide range of societies through Imperial College Students' Union.
We are always happy to help found and support new clubs, so please reach out to the SU if that were something you would like to pursue!

Student socials
The SU is always looking for ways to build our community at the RCM and a great way to do that is through Student socials.
Throughout the year we host two free socials a week, including a relaxed daytime catch up, usually featuring tea, coffee and snacks, and an evening social with a rotating theme. In addition to this consistent weekly schedule, we also host bigger events across the year, including some in collaboration with the other UK conservatoires.
Freshers week is very busy and full of socials. It's a great opportunity to meet your colleagues at the RCM, especially those in different faculties and departments.
Tickets for these events will be released in early September on the RCMSU website; be quick as the Boat Party always sells out fast!
Health and wellbeing
Looking looking after students’ wellbeing is of vital importance, and we help the RCM provide a range of support activities and advice to manage this. We are also keen to promote spiritual wellbeing.
The SU office is always open for general enquiries or for a chat. If you have a more sensitive issue you would like to discuss with one of our officers, rather than a member of RCM staff, you can make an appointment or drop-in at the SU office in BaRCM.
Feedback
Each faculty has a student representative that you can relay your feedback to. The reps are members of various committees around College that they can take your feedback to, or contact relevant members of staff on your behalf. The SU team supports reps at each of these stages. Feedback is a vital aspect of improving students’ experience at College and we encourage all students to share their views.
