In this masterclass, members of the Chiaroscuro Quartet work with RCM string students, sharing the distinctive approach that has made them one of Europe’s most admired period instrument ensembles.
Performing music of the Classical and early Romantic periods on gut strings and with historical bows, the quartet has earned widespread acclaim for its unique sound, described by The Observer as 'a shock to the ears of the best kind'. Their growing discography includes acclaimed recordings of works by Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn. Recent performance highlights include appearances at Wigmore Hall, the Boulez Saal in Berlin and Weill Hall in New York.
