Join us this Summer!

This season, we’re celebrating folk music and cross-cultural collaboration across our inspiring festivals, concerts, talks, competitions and masterclasses.

Folk traditions

The season opens with music inspired by the natural world and global folk traditions. Larks Ascending brings together musicians from our Composition Faculty responding to birdsong and the British landscape, echoing the spirit of Vaughan Williams’ iconic work. Pathfinding opera company Tête à Tête presents five world-premiere short operas inspired by folklore and fantastical settings.

Cross-cultural collaborations

Rushil Ranjan leads a project of collaboration between cultures from Ireland, China and India. Horn player Sarah Willis and her Sarahbanda infuse the season with Cuban dance rhythms.

Festivals across campus

The much loved Festival of Percussion returns, featuring musicians of the Royal Air Force and legendary drummer Dave Weckl. Our Strings Festival turns the spotlight to the expressive voices of the viola and harp.

RCM ensembles perform across London

The RCM Symphony Orchestra appears at the Southbank Centre with conductor Kahchun Wong, while Wigmore Hall hosts artists from our Junior Department as well as the Strings and Vocal & Opera faculties. At Cadogan Hall, Junior Department musicians perform Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring

Inspiring masterclasses

Students benefit from extraordinary opportunities to learn from leading performers, with return visits from Nicky Spence and Tasmin Little. We are also delighted to welcome, for the first time, renowned American cellist Zlatomir Fung.
