The Spirit of Schubert

Monday 26 March 2012

Royal College of Music performers have been participating in “The Spirit of Schubert”, BBC Radio 3’s eight-day celebration of Franz Schubert, which includes every single note that he wrote.

The festival kicked off at London’s King’s Place on Friday 23 March, when RCM students gave live performances of selected movements from Schubert’s Octet D803. You can hear the performances on BBC iPlayer.

Then on Tuesday 27 March, Professor Amanda Glauert - RCM Director of Programmes and Research - appeared as a guest in "The Schubert Lab", exploring the importance of Vienna to Schubert's output. You can watch her contribution on the BBC website. Both Professor Glauert and Dr Natasha Loges - Assistant Head of Programmes at the RCM - will be making further contributions to the festival as it unfolds.

The BBC “Spirit of Schubert” festival runs until Saturday 31 March.
