Giving is Good for you

Wednesday 12 June 2013

Giving is Good for You demonstrates that altruism has played a fundamentally important role in human development. However, charitable giving is falling whilst the wealth of the top 1% is booming.  Growing inequality and poverty is a threat to everyone – even the wealthy – and the most unequal societies are the most dysfunctional, unhealthy and violent.

Author John Nickson himself generously supports a scholarship at the RCM, and he urges his peers to follow suit, arguing that in addition to enhancing public benefit as public spending falls, giving can be personally fulfilling, particularly for those who realise that money is not the key to human happiness.

You can read an interview with John Nickson on the RCM website.

The book was launched at the RCM on Thursday 6 June, and is available to buy from Biteback Publishing. RCM staff, students, friends and supporters can get the book at a special price of £14.99 by visiting The Online Political Bookstore and entering the promotional code “RCM”.
