Harp Success in Holland

Harpist Juliana Myslov, who will be joining the RCM in September, has triumphed at the Dutch Harp Competition 2014.

The British harp player won the competition’s First Prize ahead of 23 other outstanding young harpists from across the world. She has been awarded €10,000 and concert tour in 2015, including a recording of one of the tour’s concerts. Juliana additionally won the Audience Award of €2,500, presented by chairman of the board Henk de Breij.

In the Final of the competition, which is part of the Dutch Harp Festival, each of the three finalists performed concertos by Glière and Reineke, followed by the world premiere of Paul Patterson’s Fantasia concerto. Juliana also won the prize for best interpretation of this concerto, presented by the composer himself.

Juliana will be commencing studies as a scholar at the RCM in September 2014.
