We are delighted to warmly welcome 67 new students for a new academic year at the Royal College of Music Junior Department.

We’re also delighted to welcome a host of new staff to the Junior Department including: woodwind teachers Nicolas Bricht, Andrea Charles and Hayley License (flute), Jessie Grimes (clarinet), James Turnball (oboe) and Katie Samways (saxophone); string teachers Juliet Hughes-Rees, Alex Laing and Juliet Hughes-Rees (violin) and trombone teacher Ruth Molins. Also joining the RCM Junior Department teaching team are: musicianship teachers Jane da Costa, Christoph Knopfel, Pande Shahov and Simon Speare; choral conductors James Davey and Katie Thomas; and accompanist Leanne Singh-Levett.

There are many exciting events to look forward to this autumn including the final of the JD Peter Morrison Concerto Competition on 22 November and a performance of Elgar’s popular Enigma Variations by the RCM Junior Department Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra on 29 November. Visit the JD events pages for details of all events this autumn, which go on sale on 18 October.

We wish all of our Junior Department students and staff a wonderful year at the RCM.
